Ramnath Kovind is BJP’s candidate for Presidential polls 2017

BJP president Amit Shah on 19.6.2017 declared  Bihar Governor, Ram Nath Kovind  71 as the party’s candidate for the presidential poll.Mr Kovind would also be the joint candidate of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by  Bharatiya Janata Party.

The decision was taken at party’s Parliamentary board presided over by PM Narendra Modi.

Born on October 1, 1945 in Kanpur Dehat , Uttar Pradesh.
Central Government Advocate in the Delhi High Court( 1977-79).
Advocate on Record Supreme Court ( 1978).

Central Government Advocate in Supreme Court 1980-83).
Member of Rajyasabha for two successive terms (1996-2006).
Served as the National President of the BJP Schedule Caster Morcha.
Served on Board o f IIM Kolkata.
Served on Several Parliamentary Committees.
Sworn in as Bihar Governor in 2015
